Design Matters

Piazza Home, a trusted source for full-service interior design services, has made its mark in the Lowcountry and Upstate as well as in Charlotte and Atlanta.

The company’s Summerville storefront has a distinctive selection of gifts, jewelry, women’s accessories and housewares. Piazza has stood the test of time. “We’ve been in business long enough to have done a couple of houses twice,” says owner and designer Kevin Patrick, who opened Piazza with co-owner Tim Adkins 16 years ago.

In terms of interior design consulting and management, Kevin and Tim do it all: new construction, renovations, room makeovers and staging of homes prior to sale. They operate from an artfully decorated boutique on Central Avenue, where they sell a variety of furnishings. In fact, shoppers who come here are often inspired to approach Kevin and Tim about a larger design endeavor.

The owners enjoy tailoring solutions to their clients’ needs and tastes. “I want their space to reflect them, not me,” Kevin says.

“There are some simple things for which most people wouldn’t think to engage a designer, like help picking paint colors when building a home,” he says. Piazza’s offerings range from assistance of this kind to full-service planning and buying, including furnishings and “finish” selections, such as flooring and electrical fixtures.

A large project on Lake Keowee involved Piazza from the basement up. It called for special attention to the kitchen, which Kevin notes is “a place where you need a lot of detail.” The homeowners said that Kevin’s suggestion to extend this room by three feet was crucial to the home’s functionality.
