Vieuxtemps embraces an old-world style of wedding registry

BY ERICA JACKSON CURRAN

Once upon a time, many brides wouldn’t consider registering for wedding gifts at a department store. Instead, a bride would work closely with a specialist to select just the right china, flatware and linens to outfit her home with her new husband. Inspired by that old-fashioned level of service, Vieuxtemps brings that same experience to brides on King Street.

From fine French china to delicate Italian stemware and gleaming silver, Vieuxtemps is packed to the brim with objets de charme from beloved brands like Herend, Haviland and Royal Crown Derby. Boasting the most complete bridal registry in Charleston, the shop specializes in items that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s a point of pride for owner Pamela Tidwell, who owns the store with her daughter Magda Pelzer.

The staff works closely with each bride to create a truly personalized registry, whether they know exactly what they want or they need a bit of guidance. One thing they all seem to have in common? An appreciation for the finer things in life. Southerners are known for hospitality and Vieuxtemps works hard to carry on that tradition.
