Jacqueline Volz and Meredith Severs have had a knack for planning events since they were little girls. With that passion for entertaining firmly entrenched, the duo moved to Charleston and founded Sweetgrass Social Event + Design in 2009.

“The city is booming,” Volz says of setting up shop in the Holy City. “It’s bringing so many new restaurants, stores and things to do, there’s never a boring day in this city! We also have such a tight-knit wedding industry here in Charleston where all the wedding vendors work together as a team.”

Sweetgrass Social sets itself apart with its attention to detail and personalized service. “We like to think that we provide our clients with a white glove service,” Volz says. “We’re always going above and beyond for all of our clients, meeting and exceeding their needs.” Whether a bride needs just a little help—a day-of coordinator, for example—or a lot, Sweetgrass Social can build a package to suit her style. They can even plan the honeymoon. Overall, Volz says, “We want to make the bride and groom feel that their event is a representation of them as a couple.”
