Weddings are always special occasions, but some are more memorable than others. A few years ago, when Christine Boykin and Carri MacGregor realized that only two of the 10 weddings they’d attended that season stood out, they decided to start their own event planning company.

Friends since high school, the duo brought a diverse background to Mac & B. Events; Boykin had worked in fine arts and special events, while MacGregor came to event planning by way of the retail world. When they both found themselves living in Charleston 16 years later, it seemed natural for them to join forces. “We are inspired every day by the beauty, culture and elegance that surround us here,” Boykin says. “We are fortunate to share this admiration for Charleston with our clients.”

Mac & B. works with a lot of busy couples who don’t necessarily have time to plan their own weddings. “We focus on the couple’s vision and trying to make their day unique,” Boykin says. “We take the time to truly get to know our clients, and make sure their voice is heard throughout the entire planning process. Most importantly, we make it fun and in the end we develop a relationship that turns into a friendship.”
