A FRESH TAKE ON FASHION

These days, shopping takes a well-worn track. Walk into any high-end shopping district in any city in the world and you’ll see the same stores touting the same brands.

Holly & Brooks, located in Freshfields Village on Johns Island near Kiawah, bucks the trend. The boutique, which just celebrated its second anniversary, carries women’s shoes, accessories, jewelry and apparel you won’t see just anywhere.

Owner Nancy Whitmore says she listens to her well-traveled customers, who value high quality, comfort and good looks. That’s why her footwear includes stylish, easy-to-wear lines like André Assous, Arche and Gentle Souls—not to mention Aquatalia, waterproof shoes and boots preferred by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Whitmore also features 100 percent silk Tolani tunics in eye-catching patterns (“world-inspired”) and necklaces by Patrice, made of vintage European glass and semiprecious stones (“the perfect accent for a neutral outfit”). For those who need a little encouragement to shop, Holly & Brooks offers incentives. To celebrate certain holidays, they bring out champagne, chocolates or store manager Judy Pinkston’s famous pound cake. It’s all part of Whitmore’s goal to make shopping a pleasure.

Holly & Brooks is located at 510 Freshfields Drive, Johns Island. Call 843-768-5777 or visit hollyandbrooks.com.
