CHOOSING NEW CABINETS IS A LONG-TERM DECISION THAT AFFECTS HOW INTERIORS look and function during the daily rhythm of life in a home. While there is endless inspiration on social media, the most important factors to consider when choosing the right cabinetry aren’t details like the finish or hardware but the level of experience behind the product and the installation. A cabinet provider with decades of hands-on expertise brings clarity to homeowners during the decision-making process, since the cabinet provider can anticipate challenges before they arise. Experienced craftspeople have seen and done it all, so to speak. That deep level of experience is why homeowners and builders turn to Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath. Across the company, designers and craftspeople each have 30 years of experience in custom cabinetry design and installation.

“We offer a deep, well-curated product line, along with in-house design services and an unlimited amount of cabinetry customization,” says Peter Munzer, founder of Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath, whose background includes founding a New York kitchen and bath showroom that he ran for 15 years. His hands-on installation experience, which is enhanced by his staff’s equally impressive track records, is a valuable asset to Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath’s customers and ensures a flawless fit from first measurement to final install. “We have a range of all-wood cabinetry at all price points, from quick-ship stock cabinets to fully custom luxury-level styles. The ability to mix and match cabinets across a home’s interiors—all from the ease of a single showroom—is an advantage for our customers,” Munzer says.

One of those clients is custom homebuilder Jonathan Ghant of Jonathan Ghant Homes + Construction, who uses Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath for his clients and for his own personally designed home. “I first connected with Pete about five years ago,” says Ghant. “I was impressed with the variety at Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath. It didn’t hurt that Pete and I have the same work ethic when it comes to taking care of our product and our people. The Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath team will literally do anything in its power to make things right for me and my customers. This is why I stay loyal to them.”

Ghant finds it hard to choose his favorite cabinetry in his own home but leans toward what Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath achieved in his kitchen. “The kitchen’s modern slab-front upper cabinets are designed in rift white oak from Showplace Cabinetry’s Vienna product line in a buff finish,” explains Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath’s in-house designer Lisa Paratore, who assisted Ghant in the design of cabinetry throughout his bespoke home. “A straight-grain red oak design in ‘Thunder’ finish as perimeter base cabinetry grounds the space. We replicated this look in the home’s scullery for consistency and flow.”

“The warmth of the natural white oak and the simplicity of the door and drawer fronts speak to me,” says Ghant. Paratore helped Ghant customize the wood and finishes of the Showplace cabinetry used in the kitchen and in other rooms of the home.

“The coffee station with natural stone door fronts is my favorite design feature in the kitchen,” says Paratore. “I love how the drawer blends seamlessly into the countertop behind it for a luxurious touch.”

The design and installation team customized cabinetry in other rooms, including a floating vanity in the primary bathroom, built-ins in the gym, recreation room, dual offices, mudroom, laundry room and other bathrooms. All cabinets, which Paratore designed in a range of finishes to suit each room, have a clean-lined, modern aesthetic that fit Ghant’s overall home design style.

The Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath process has been refined over time. While working with each customer on their specific project, an experienced in-house designer sits down with the homeowner to listen to their vision and explore options to implement what they want to achieve. Walking through the showroom to see room vignettes helps fine-tune finishes and understand the look of the completed installation. The designer then creates a rendering in 3-D software to help homeowners get a realistic view of how their choices will look in their homes.

Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath also sources countertops, hardware and hardwood flooring to make the process convenient for customers, similar to a one-stop shopping experience. The company’s fully stocked showroom on Coleman Boulevard allows customers to see the product variety and how finished installations look in room displays. “We offer plenty of space and large conference tables for homeowners to meet with their designers and spread out to review selections,” Paratore says. “We are happy to provide full complimentary design services or work with outside designers to achieve the look and functionality a homeowner wants. We’ll do the work over several meetings in the showroom—whatever it takes for our clients to achieve the look they want.”

“With two designers on staff and four installation crews, we are able to handle any cabinetry project that comes our way,” Munzer says. “We have the necessary equipment in the showroom, including a large-format printer, that allows us to print blueprints so we can work with homeowners room by room to design their spaces. With stock, semi-custom and full-custom options, we can meet any client’s budget and needs with the right cabinetry.”

The company’s stellar reviews and strong reputation speak volumes for the asset it has been to the Charleston community over the last decade. “Mount Pleasant Kitchen & Bath has the best customer service that I have seen in my 30-plus years in the cabinet business,” says Paratore. “We truly offer our clients white-glove service, with a level of hands-on attention to detail on the jobsite that is exceptional.” *
