CYNTHIA HUSTON FINE ART

Born and raised in Atlanta, Cynthia Huston graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics—a direction that took her far away from the creativity she enjoyed as a child. Throughout the telecommunications career that followed, Huston found an escape through painting and drawing. After leaving a successful corporate life, she began focusing completely on becoming an artist and teaching children’s art from her home studio.

Huston has become known for her bold, loose brushstrokes, creating work that is impressionistic and driven by color. Living in Mount Pleasant, I’m surrounded by the scenery of the Lowcountry,” says Huston, who finds great inspiration in painting en plein air. “Painting outside, I feel the energy from everything surrounding me. It breathes life into the paintings.”

Huston is a member of the Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society and the Charleston Artist Guild. She has been juried into national shows and won awards at local festivals. She will release a new collection at Charleston’s annual Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition. Her work can be found at Verve Interiors and the Christenberry Collection in Columbia, South Carolina, and at Carolina Fine Art in Charlotte, North Carolina. Huston also works on commission.
