ELLA W. Richardson Fine Art has been offering exceptional artwork from American and international artists since 2001. The range in its catalogue includes impressionist, realist, contemporary abstracts and black-and-white photography, as well as porcelain, jewelry, bronzes and etchings, and paintings from renowned Charleston Renaissance artists.
Featured here are two Texas-based artists, Deborah Paris and Mallory Agerton. Paris is the founder of The Landscape Atelier, her teaching studio. She states: “As a painter of nature, I have always been interested in wild places like old-growth forests and native prairies. I cherish this idea of wildness, and it has found its way into my garden as well. Although gardens are domesticated landscapes, they have a mind of their own, as any gardener knows. The garden is both a real and metaphorical space. In my own little garden, I find all of that and more.”
Agerton paints abstracts and realistic styles that inspire the mind and renew the spirit. “As an artist, I re-create the feeling I had as a child, when the world was new and full of discovery,” she says. Agerton relies on observation, her own drawings, imagination and memory to create her paintings. She uses her own field studies and can distill the essence of a scene to evoke a sense of place.
