GEORGETOWN ART GALLERY

Founded in 1997 by a group of local artists with the objective to create a place to display their works and network with other artists within the community, the Georgetown Art Gallery (GAG) is Georgetown’s only cooperative gallery. The gallery represents 20 local artists, presenting an extensive variety of styles, techniques and mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolors, encaustics, pastels, ceramics and photography.

Among the gallery’s artists are Johnnie Cowan, an award-winning Lowcountry artist and founding member of the Georgetown County Watercolor Society; Sissy Carroll, a retired South Carolina art teacher, Lowcountry and regional artist, and current president of the gallery; Jeanne O’Neal, a recognized coastal landscape artist and juried participant in numerous art exhibits; Judy Maring, a member of the Oil Painters of America and the Portrait Society of America, whose paintings blend realism and impressionism to create Lowcountry scenes; and Ed Rana, a published photographer and recipient of numerous awards in national and international exhibitions.

Each member artist must pass a jury process, which ensures that the gallery maintains a diverse selection of artwork of the highest quality. GAG member artists also donate work to the South Carolina Maritime Museum’s annual fundraiser.
