LEGARE WARING HOUSE
Connecticut couple Kelly Totino and Chris Antonacci had never even been to Charleston before their wedding day, but they knew it would be the ideal place to tie the knot. “We were instantly drawn to the Lowcountry charm of the Legare Waring House,” Chris says. “The Spanish moss hanging in the avenue of oaks and the sun setting on the crystal lagoons were a perfect backdrop for our ceremony and cocktail hour.”
From the menu to the flowers and décor, planner Christina Baxter of Cibi Events helped the couple combine the bride’s soft, romantic style with the groom’s rustic aesthetic in a way that celebrated their differences. The tablescapes blended masculine and feminine elements with alternating setups—some with mercury glass votives and pink roses, others with reclaimed wooden vessels filled with greenery.
As for the food, Salthouse Catering put together a menu that included some of the couple’s favorite dishes. For Chris, it was braised short ribs with potato-parsnip puree, mushrooms, and English pea ragout; Kelly requested a pan-seared local fish with Charleston Gold rice grits, and roasted Brussels sprouts with cranberries. In a nod to the newlyweds’ heritage, they also offered Italian delicacies during the cocktail reception.
While the wedding was picture-perfect, the couple’s favorite moment actually took place before the ceremony during their “first look.” Chris remembers: “I could see the excitement in her smile and eyes, realizing all the planning and waiting was finally over. It was a very intimate moment sharing our first hug and kiss as a couple.”
