Located in the heart of the historic French Quarter, Lowcountry Artists Gallery is the oldest artist-owned and -operated gallery in Charleston. One of the nine artist-owners is always on site to answer questions, consult and discuss commissions with clients.

The gallery represents more than 20 guest artists whose diverse work spans a wide range of mediums and styles, including painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, pottery, glass, wood, sweetgrass baskets and fine jewelry. The gallery’s collection of award-wining creations has garnered a reputation for attracting local, national and international collectors. Among some of the most popular pieces are local sculptor Zan Smith’s life-size copper frogs, which are frequently photographed by visitors and passersby— particularly his Thinker frog, a beloved gallery mascot typically perched on a nearby bench outside.

The gallery is currently owned by artists Norma Morris Cable, Lisa Willits, Ivo Kerssemakers, Sandra Roper, Betsy Jones McDonald, Cynthia Huston, Elizabeth Middour, Merrie McNair and Drue McGarty.
