Love Boat

Only a romantic at heart could make his living with seaward love stories, and that’s exactly what Matt Treanor, owner of Southern Drawl Yacht Charters, sounds like when he describes all that goes into any wedding aboard the 49-passenger, Coast Guard-certified private yacht.

Crowning Glory

Marilyn and Tamsyn Rickards are constantly on the lookout for inspiration. A piece of lace, a vintage bracelet, antique ribbons or flowers from a discarded hat could inspire a one-of-a-kind design for their company Treats for Tresses.

Gifted and Talented

Once upon a time, many brides wouldn’t consider registering for wedding gifts at a department store. Instead, a bride would work closely with a specialist to select just the right china, flatware and linens to outfit her home with her new husband. Inspired by that old-fashioned level of service, Vieuxtemps brings that same experience to brides on King Street.

A WEDDING LETTER

August 14, 1925 Dear Elizabeth and George, You will be anxious to hear of the wedding, I know . . . The words jumped out at me, careful cursive on ivory writing paper, now straw-colored with age. My sister and I were up to our knees in boxes, sifting through the contents of our late […]

La Vie en Rose

Jewelry designer Lauren Edewaard Madden feels a personal connection with each one of her creations. In fact, she loves them so much that she gives them names.

The Music Men

Gone are the days when the only question you’d ask a wedding band is if they knew how to play “The Funky Chicken.” Modern couples recognize that the entertainment they choose literally sets the tone for their event, making it one of the most important decisions in the wedding planning process. Luckily, OtherBrother Entertainment is intimately familiar with the Holy City music scene.

Let Them Eat Cake

If you want a wedding cake by Linda Blackwell, the owner and baker behind Artistic Cakes by Linda, you’d better make your appointment far in advance—like, a year in advance. Her cakes are so pretty and, just as importantly, delicious that she gets booked up fast. “2014 is almost completely booked, and I’ve got 12 or 15 weddings in 2015 already,” she says.

Bloom Squad

Floral design is Peggy Sirisky’s God-given talent, she says, and so it’s no wonder that her business, The Flower Cottage, has blossomed for more than 30 years now. Her passion began as a child, cutting and arranging roses from her grandmother’s garden.

Suit Up

Tuxedo Junction’s story has always revolved around love. Barry Johnson began his journey with the store as a parttime employee, earnestly saving up to marry Clarisse. Life led them to one day purchase the North Charleston store, and it’s been a family business now for eight years and counting.

Two If By Sea

What’s better than a waterfront wedding venue? One that’s actually floating in the water, of course. One of the most unique venues in the Holy City, The Carolina Girl is a luxurious, 100-foot yacht that’s permanently docked in Charleston Harbor. Captain Bob Murray purchased and renovated the vessel in 2006, turning it into a highly sought-after floating venue for weddings and other special events. With room for up to 150 guests, the yacht offers breathtaking views of the surrounding marshland and city skyline, a wrap-around deck, comfortable seating, a state-of-the-art integrated sound system and a nonskid dance floor on the top deck. For more formal affairs, the middle deck features a dining area and a bar. In addition to its experienced crew, The Carolina Girl provides a coordinator to help brides plan their event and to run the show on the big day.
